casa marina         this holiday apartment is named after the sea.

   Facts and description

In the quiet lane of the old town of Garachico, where you find almost only houses of more than 100 years,

the casa marina is also located. From the outside you will first enter a 9 sqm, planted courtyard, half-shaded

by a vine that flowers all over the year. From here you enter a 18 sqm. bright room with a round marble table

with chairs a CD player, a crockery display, three more small tables and a kitchenette. Next to this room leads

a corridor of 5 sqm. to a 5 1/2 sqm. large bathroom, a 2 1/2 sqm. large dressing room and a 6 sqm. large bedroom.

The rooms have arabic floor tiles, floors, 3.50 m heigh walls and and 3 m high doors with skylights. ... all these

details are very typical of the old mansions on Tenerife.

The kitchen has a sink, work surfaces, fridge and a gas stove (four burners and oven). In the base cabinets are juicer,

toaster, tea- and coffee- thermoses, cheese grater, food processor, coffee machine, kettle, juicer, toaster, cookware

and cutlery and everything you could need: cheese graters, egg cups, corkscrew, tea-towels, oven mitts etc...

There is also a highly recommended bio box delivered once a week. Every week I am sent a list with the ripe fruit and

vegetables available, from wonderful gardens around here. On request, I send you this list, shortly before your trip,

you choose what you want, and I pass your wishes over. So your box awaits you, when you arrive...

The bathroom has bidet, toilet, bathtub - also for showering -, hand basin, plenty of towels and space for toiletries.

The bedroom is almost completely taken up by the bed, with plenty of good fine bedding. The two 90 x 200 cm

mattresses lie on beams, embedded in the walls.

The apartment is suitable for one or two persons.

The guests of the casa marina can also rent the casa canarina for example to organise seminars or meetings.

The two houses lie next to each other in a quiet street of the old town of Garachico. From the inside they are

connected, share the same staircase and the same roof terrace. From the inside, from the casa marina, you

reach the casa canarina halfway upstairs (10 steps), direction roof terrace.

Every house has its own front door to the street.

Guests are requested to smoke only in the yard or on the terrace so that the apartment
reserves its fresh

fragrant atmosphere. For the same reason no animals may be brought.

The free internet connection extends to the terrace.

From the kitchen a staircase leads, with 18 steps, on the large, planted roof terrace (80 sqm).

Here are, except the washing machine, a closet with blankets, pillows and games, garden loungers

with cushions (all made of natural materials), umbrellas and many various sitting areas for resting or

working, with beautiful views the town, the sea and the mountains.

   From here     ...

... on foot, directly from the front door of the casa marina are hiking trails leading into the mountains.

A 2 - 4 minutes walk from the casa marina, lies the Atlantic Ocean and many bathing facilities:

For example the sandy beach, the fishing harbour and the natural sea pools ' El Caletón'.

4 - 8 minutes on foot, passing a landscaped garden with an old wine press and the port gate 'Puerta de Tierra' of the

16th century, to reach the mayor square of Garachico, with its historic buildings and churches. Various food-stores,

Trade supplies, arts and crafts, leather, pottery, jewellery, coffee and tea, cigars, flowers, sporting goods, clothing,

bars and good restaurants, an ice cream parlour, three banks, the post office, two chemists and two health centers

are also located in this distance.

8 - 12 minutes walking, you find the artificial saltwater swimming pool, the tennis courts and the football field on

the waterfront.

a 12 to 17 minute walk, along the promenade , takes you to the end of the old town by the sea where the

Chapel of 'San Roque' and the new marina lies.

All that is farther away but definitely worth seeing, as the Cañadas del Teide, the mountains of Anaga and Teno,

beautiful towns and villages, ... are best reached by car.  But the bus connections from Garachico aren't bad at all:

Every hour public busses stop here to go in the direction of Buenavista or Icod or further afield - anywhere on

the island.
